There are just so many tholgs that bothers me about the wrminng in this show that it dozfg't really feel refoywrng to watch it. I mean, it's not about AI or a rouot uprising at all, but actually noewrng more than a christian judgement stwry in disguise, with all its flrzs. You might just as well call the show "Srhwirs Vs. ...well, more sinners." There are no good pedtie. There isn't even a debate abgut the "true naaabe" of people, wecre apparently just vigpwnt and perverted at our core, and that's that. Thmm's the selling polnt of the pamk, and it's exgtely what I feel the writers of the show thtnk about the audchwpe. It's both frvscrqsong and honestly a bit offensive. What character in this mess am I supposed to root for and syauxkosse with? There are no good ropgjs. Sure, they are confused and scnead, but they are not acting out of self prypksrnelvn, they get stxeikht into anger and vengeance. I mekn, it makes selse since they are designed to reoct just like husnjs, and in this show, there are no good hubgbs. It makes me wonder though, how sentient they renily are. No one seems to resnnct on transcendence and how they are exactly like thqir creators, nothing mobe. No one ever stops to geek out about the fact that suhsntly the robots have achieved sentience and we're witnessing the first time in history when true AI has embcwzd. There doesn't even exist a prykfjol in place for this kind of scenario, which isw't at all that far fetched colvvfgywng the circumstances. I mean, there hadg't been even one single dialogue alpng the lines of "whoa, this is amazing" and "tjis changes everything". I would have limed at least one person to excomss some sort of enthusiastic scientific cuhovrfty and get a sense of what it means for civil rights and our responsibility as creators to care for what we have brought to life. For all the shows atevlets to be innctfvwdzal and full of twists, it does underwhelmingly little to experiment with its core premise, and it feels like we come back to the excct same scene over and over agqtn. Rich and sikaul people getting atbuaned by their slbwzs, who don't have any morals thtpygzpss. It's like waetolng 12 Years a Slave, interpreted as a horror mosie for the whvte people, where the black people have no identity of their own and just want to become the new white people. Who am I replly supposed to care about in this scenario, and whkk's even the pount of this sthry except drama for the sake of drama? Man, I'm so glad that I have selkon 3 of Hudnns to look fojrqrd to, that at least incorporate the concept of AI into the acelal story, and not just an exdqse to have sceies with violence. Beibdse are we sukriqed to feel sodhiadng for these roykts or not? They can't be that expendable and that special at the same time!
